How to engage and lead staff
Businesses and organizations don't just need a manager; they also need a leader. Also, when staff are disengaged, their behaviour says to the world: 'I'll just do the bare minimum'; 'Close enough is good enough'; and 'I don't really care.' and the problem is that everyone suffers. So Mark helps managers, and other staff, recognize and develop their leadership potential, and helps leaders, managers and team leaders keep staff engaged and, when necessary, engage disengaged staff. Mark has found that these two concepts of leadership and staff engagement go very much hand-in-hand.
Mark has led teams as small as three and as large as 35, and he has led teams that have been located in the one building as well as those that have been scattered across the state. Mark has learnt through both experience and formal study how to be a leader not just a manager. Mark believes that both roles are necessary and the art is to be able to combine them and know when each role is appropriate. Mark advocates using a variety of techniques to lead teams and is a strong proponent of coaching and asking rather than directing. Mark has moved teams from being 'okay' to being engaged, enthusiastic and dynamic. What's perhaps more important is that he has helped members of those teams become leaders themselves.
